Saint John’s On The Lake is a member of Saint John’s Communities Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community operated by a volunteer board of directors who govern the organization and support the leadership of experienced administrative, professional and skilled personnel.
What kinds of living options are available at Saint John's?
Saint John's includes the North Residences, built in 1979, and the new South Residences expansion opening in 2011 for independent retirement living; Canterbury Court provides assisted care and Windsor & Stratford Courts provide skilled nursing care for long and short term stays.
How financially strong is Saint John's?
Very. Saint John's is one of only 150 full service communities in the United States, and one of three in Wisconsin, with rated bonds. We exceed the industry's financial accredidation standards. Our management team prides itself on transparency and is happy to provide financial information about Saint John's.
Is residency contingent upon religious affiliation?
No. Saint John's gladly welcomes people of all faiths and backgrounds.
What are the community's Entrance Fee plans and Monthly Fees?
Your choice of affordable fee plans assure you a vibrant lifestyle with your beautiful residence, fine dining, satisfying amenities and activities, world class wellness programming and beautiful common spaces, all with health care options to suit your needs and budget.
Our unique Life Care Plan guarantees you access to health care at no increase in your Monthly Fee, with initial and on-going income tax benefits.
Our Standard Plan has a lower Monthly Fee. Residents still have access to our fine health care, but assume responsibility for its payment on a fee-for-service basis.
Saint John’s On The Lake also offers appealing choices in Entrance Fee refund plans. One of our affordable programs is bound to fit your needs, and we will be pleased to review them with you at your convenience.
What are the requirements for independent living residency?
Applicants must be at least 62 years of age, be able to live independently, and demonstrate sufficient financial resources to satisfy the Entrance and Monthly Fees.
How can I sign up for the Saint John's Priority List?
Our short application requests health and financial information. When an applicant is approved, a refundable deposit secures your position on our priority list as a future resident.
What services are included in the Monthly Fee?
Fees include all utilities, such as temperature control, water, laundry machines and electricity. Building maintenance, security and emergency response are also included. You also have full access to our wonderful array of amenities and services, including our progressive whole-person wellness program.
What kind of dining services are offered?
Although residences are furnished with a full kitchen, many residents choose to eat at Taylor's, our exclusive restaurant with a breathtaking lakefront view. Taylor's offers lunch as well as a full course dinner menu. Our café offers breakfast and lunch daily. Our new Bistro will offer dining and take-out with extended hours.
What are Saint John's safety and security features?
Our check-in system provides daily contact with each resident. Smoke detectors and sprinkler systems are in each residence and all public areas. Emergency call systems are located in each residence. Our security entrances have cameras, are code-activated, and all guests and visitors sign in and are announced.
Are transportation services available?
Saint John's provides transportation to shopping malls, grocery stores, cultural events and recreational outings. Special trips to personal appointments may also be easily arranged. We are conveniently located on bus route 30. Taxi service is available.
What cultural, social and educational events will I enjoy?
Our clubs, events, wellness initiatives, performances and excursions offer enrichment and fun: writing, poetry, yoga, bridge, lectures, movies, woodworking, computer access and much more. Our very own Flagg Theatre and Uihlein Peters Art Gallery are region-wide cultural destinations. Regular group outings provide front door service to all that the vibrant city of Milwaukee has to offer.
Are there overnight guest accommodations?
Yes, Saint John's has guest suites that can be reserved.
Will I have volunteer opportunities at Saint John's?
Yes, residents can participate in a wide variety of volunteer opportunities including clerking in the Corner Store, assisting in the computer center, Resident Council and other Saint John's governance, working with school kids, hosting and greeting at Taylor's, sorting and delivering mail and more.
