What is Life Care?
Life Care provides guaranteed access to health care services in our assisted care and skilled care neighborhoods. Even if your health status changes, your monthly fee stays the same except for the additional cost of meals. You and your resources are protected against the high cost of special care by providing it at a fixed rate, and your health care needs will be met in familiar surroundings with skilled caregivers.
What are the Requirements To Qualify for Life Care?
Applicants must be at least 62 years old and have sufficient financial resources for the Entrance Fee and continuing monthly fee. Life Care helps residents conserve their assets by stabilizing living and health care costs.
Are there tax advantages with Life Care?
You are entitled to a one-time per person Entrance Fee deduction and a continuing monthly health care cost deduction per person. The IRS has accepted Life Care as a pre-paid medical expense deduction in the year paid. As with all tax questions, we suggest you consult a competent advisor.
What if my spouse needs health care but I don’t?
Saint John’s understands that couples have differing health needs, so we make adjustments, including allowing the couple to live separately but pay just one monthly fee, based upon the independent living monthly fee.
Is the Life Care Entrance Fee refundable?
Yes, we now offer several refundability level options.
Ask about them when you visit us.
Why should I consider Life Care when there are so many other options?
Health care costs will be dramatically different this century, and only Life Care protects you against these increases, with guaranteed access to a proven provider. You also maintain the comfort of staying within the same care continuum if you need assistance.
